For Ramón Esteve, "architecture" is far more than form and function—it is a profound dialogue with the land, light, material, and people. Since founding Ramón Esteve Studio in Valencia, Spain in 1991, he has regarded architecture as a holistic, global discipline, committed to constructing complete environmental experiences through design. During the Yintour journey in Spain, amidst the Mediterranean light and shadow, we welcomed this thinker who embodies both architect and designer. He guided us through the narrative of "architecture at all scales," explaining how design shapes space, objects, and brands across different dimensions, ultimately returning to the fundamental vision of "creating the places you would like to live in."
In Ramón’s design philosophy, harmony, serenity, and timelessness are not just keywords—they are systematic principles that permeate every project. From the estuary planning in Abu Dhabi and traditional stone houses in Ibiza to a series of residences that interpret the contemporary Mediterranean spirit, his work consistently presents a recognizable and unique architectural style—expressing contemporaneity within a local context, and infusing rational construction with a perceptible atmosphere.
During the session, Ramón vividly illustrated how the studio transforms land, light, and structure into perceptible narratives through the "material palette"—concrete carrying weight, wood storing warmth, glass dissolving boundaries. He repeatedly emphasized that "design is a response"—a response to nature, to culture, and to the authentic experience of people in space. His architecture, through serene geometry, precise details, and a poetic dialogue with the environment, offers inhabitants a tranquil place to settle both body and mind, a space to breathe along with nature.
