In the financial district of Guadalajara, Mexico, a cluster of skyscrapers whose architectural identity revolves around steel, insulated glass and concrete. These properties are replicated in the Parques tower, where the design and interiors studio, Aagnes, intervened in a space of no more than fifty square meters whose stylistic program seeks to make a statement that contrasts with the lack of warmth that usually accompanies financial environments. This contrast, moreover, complements the vocation of the space.

The protagonist of the project is wood: a material that mostly envelops every corner and embraces a space that, although limited, consists of a hall, a main office, a living room, a meeting table, as well as a bathroom. Wood, like a warm gesture, envelops the first part of the space: an intimate hall, a serene bathroom and an office that invites concentration. This wooden box, which evokes the serenity of Japanese temples, gradually reveals itself to the visitor, who crosses a lower threshold and is immersed in a welcoming and enveloping atmosphere.

Later, another wooden wall welcomes you, inviting you to turn to a new space where the height of the ceiling opens to appreciate the living room on one side, the meeting table on the other, as well as a balcony that invites contemplation with its respective threshold of natural light.

In addition to wood, other materials that accompany the composition are the paste walls, an industrial ceiling with visible installations and, in particular, the green tikal marble that is found both on the meeting table and in the bathroom. Thus, hand in hand with the intention of welcoming the occupant and giving calm to the space, the same materials make the urban noise be perceived as echoes.

The general lighting is punctual, with some atmospheric points with lamps located in the work spaces that facilitate concentration and dialogue. In addition, the lighting experience is rounded off with blinds that refer to decades past, which help to diffuse, direct and stylize the light that enters through the balcony. To complete the composition, the furniture is configured through simple lines and timeless designs, which are decorated with a collection of different ceramic vessels made by popular artists from different parts of the country.

With this, the Parques tower space overcomes the monotony of the administrative area to achieve an atmosphere that provides serenity and a leisurely hospitality. And thus, with the conjunction of the distribution, the materials, the lighting design and the composition of the ornaments, a stylistic identity is consolidated that is sustained by compression and expansion; similar to an accordion, an envelope, a fold.
