Functioning as a pied-a-terre for the client and their sojourns in Melbourne, Bower Penthouse was an FFE project that sought inspiration from its 180 degree panoramic views of the South Yarra skyline and beyond. Working alongside the client and the Fortis Development Group, the project focused on harnessing earthen and golden tones to ground and enrich the light-filled space.
Custom floor-to-ceiling shelving establishes a perimeter between the open floor plan of living and dining spaces and enhances the properties’ generous proportions, with a Nebula Nine Sofa by Diesel taking centre stage with all it’s pillow-y glory. The dining space breaks geometric conventions with a pebble-shaped oak dining table in a custom green finish, underneath the handblown glass chandelier with cosmic sensibilities by Giopato & Coombes. The kitchen is set back in a blackened timber veneer, its intensity able to soak in and balance the natural light.
The bedroom focuses on a rich intimacy, with earthen green walls and ceilings and chunky loop wool pile carpet. A custom bedhead in a forest green velvet and oak stations the space and also allows for storage of books and key accents. A floor lamp by Pascal Mourgue for Ligne Roset embellishes the space with its French simplicity and modernity.
The study for Bower is tucked away in a quiet light-filled corner of the apartment, with an ocean-blue rug balancing the light walls and rich timbers. Bower Penthouse is a project designed with comfort and elemental simplicity in mind, balancing the natural and urban environment it surrounds.
