Australian designer Brahman Perera has designed Australian fashion brand DISSH's  first Sydney store, located near Bondi Beach. The female-owned and led brand has built its image to contextualise the Australian landscape for the modern woman.

The brief? To weave a sense of femininity and soft simplicity into a contemporary and unadorned site. The commercial climate between bricks and mortar, e-commerce, and social media has proliferated itself into using retail stores as not only points of sale, but as a sort of set or backdrop to a brand’s output online. DISSH Bondi needed to straddle a serviceable layout alongside the digital lens of the store through the eyes of tastemakers online. 

The site was to be softened with feminine detailing of soft fabrics throughout, while carpet and wallpaper wraps around walls and columns to create new planes and a more tactile landscape within a sensitively muted colour palette. Timeless vintage furniture was selected, alongside works from local makers and artisans. A large delicate pendant (Anders pendant from Pinch) made from a fabric derived from banana fibre takes centre stage above the Anfibio sofa, while the change rooms operate as a source of drama, with billowing ombre fabric that contrasts with the linear architecture of the space.
