Perched in a semi-rural setting among rolling hills, this Uber private home underwent a contemporary transformation using organic materials that resonate with the landscape. We approached the existing architecture, making subtle internal changes to enhance the flow between open and private spaces, introducing a sophisticated tonal palette for added substance. Throughout the house, from new joinery to lighting, window furnishings, and service upgrades, we aimed to harmonize the entire space.
On the ground floor, monochrome grey polished plaster seamlessly connects the interior architecture and decoration, erasing boundaries. A vibrant burst of color in the kitchen acts as a focal point, framing garden views from the kitchen/living room. The master bedroom is a unique retreat with custom polished plaster in an out-of-the-box blue, adding subtle variation and an unexpected touch. Sculptural and avant-garde furnishings break formal tensions, especially in the tricky triangulated living area, meeting the client's desire for an expandable yet intimate space for both entertaining and family time.
Carefully curated artwork, including outdoor sculptures by artists like Caleb O’Shea and Morgan Shimeld, ties into the existing collection. The project aimed to blur the lines between interior architecture and decoration, viewing the house through a more architectural lens. Balancing comfort and liveability while creating an emotional sense of home was at the core of this exploration.
