The Vineyard Residence at The Landing is a house made up of two simple forms straddling a stone landscape wall.Its tectonic and material strategy is drawn from the land, and pursues mass and organic warmth. 

A long wall of stone, pulled from the ground of the site, emerges from the hillsite,slips through the core of the hosue, and back out into the site again.An overhanging barrel-vaulted slab of root rests atop the stone, sheltering glass doors which, when slid into their pockets, convert much of the house into a lushly furnished outdoor terrace. 

This sheltered outdoor room is enclosed on two sides by timber clad walls and with timber doors that slide into concealed pockets that open up the kitchen/dining area to the courtyard. The louvred pergola is a free-standing steel structure that floats above the timber walls. The steel PFC perimeter frame cantilevers beyond the posts at both ends of the structure. The two bays of motorised LOCARNO RL200 louvres allow the occupants to control the environment and the play of light across the outdoor and adjacent indoor living spaces.
