Woollahra House is a private home for a couple designed by design studio Decus Interiors for a downtown home on Manning Road. The studio learned that the couple's dream was to create an explosion of colors in their home, where each room was different. In this home, every turn has a completely different feel.
The team at Decus Interiors are not afraid to step out of the horizontal and take inspiration from their clients' clothing choices when choosing the materials to use in each room. Since the client was keen to wear bold outfits that truly reflected her lively nature, Decus used this as a cue and then stimulated the team's natural response to arrive at a true consultative approach.
As the client's confident personal aesthetic inspired material choices, Decus Interiors ventured out to try out things that aren't often seen as "trendy," with carefully selected material hues that would be drawn to them at first glance, such as bold patterns and bold stone textures, balanced with softer elements. Ultimately, with the charm and consistency that the studio is known for, each space has a clear, defined personality and a strong personality of its own, reflecting the client's vibrant personality right down to its very core.
Each room in the house is designed to complement and contrast the other rooms. The wine cellar, for example, is decorated in luxurious shades of inky blue and charcoal; The bathroom is feminine, with pink onyx, dusty rose-concrete floors, contrasting lighting and custom-designed mirrors. These Spaces reflect both the clients' personalities and their polar opposites.
