At the M House Dieter Vander Velpen created a contemporary extension in black steel and glass for the grand historical mansion. Large sliding windows open up the new living room to the beautiful gardens. Inside the light filled extension oak floors, white walls and linen curtains provide a neutral base for an eclectic collection of art and furniture pieces.
In the home cinema their covered all walls with walnut paneling, creating a warm and cosy atmosphere. Ink blue carpet, a deep blue velvet sofa and a coffeetable with Lapis Lazuli inlays add a strong punch of colour and personality to the space. The custom library and display cabinet with Walnut shelving and subtle bronze details are a great spot for the clients’ beautifully curated collection of ceramics and objects. Black ‘Nero Marquina’ marble around the fireplace rounds out the material palette.
Bespoke bronze pivot doors open up into the art-filled foyer. For the entrance hall, their created a staircase with steps sculpted from sandblasted travertine and a bespoke bronze railing, inspired by art-deco details.
Upstairs their chose to have some contrast between‘Ceppo di Grès’ stone used in the bathroom and warm natural Oak veneer in the dressing room. Patinated brass taps match with the bronze details used throughout the house.
