Porteous Studio, a former blacksmith's Studio turned compact apartment project in Edinburgh, Scotland, has been designed by local interior design Studio Izat Arundell. The property, which occupies a rare undeveloped space on a historic cobblestone path in the Old Town, will be rented out as a holiday resort for visitors to the Scottish capital. When studio founders Eilidh Izat and Jack Arundell bought the site in 2016, the 18th-century blacksmith's workshop was sold as a garage and used by a stained glass manufacturer.
Porteous’ Studio is Eilidh Izat and Jack Arundell first project working together and the beginning of a small design practice, IZAT ARUNDELL. Which encompasses architecture, craft and food. Although Porteous' Studio will mainly be used as a residential space, Izat Arundell are planning a series of small events and supper clubs throughout the coming year to explore these ideas and to share the studio with fellow designers, craftspeople and thinkers.
