Kelly Wearstler

Malibu Surf Shack

Malibu Surf Shack interior designer Kelly Wearstler designed Malibu Surf Shack to transform a 395-square-metre beach house in Southern California into a resort. As a four-bedroom wooden house, it stands out from the rest of the modern architecture. It has a spacious garden at one end and a spacious terrace with views of rolling sand dunes at the other. The cabin is located on Pacific Beach, which stretches along the Pacific Ocean, with sweeping ocean views.

The house is a 1950s beach house full of eclectic interior design features. "This hidden surf shack is an architectural gem," Wearstler said. She took her design inspiration from the building's earthy and rustic hues and looked for clues in the building's original details. Wearstler's designs are more artisanal, with pristine, artisanal details that feel more natural.

The warm hued interior of the house is imbued with a sense of warmth. The wooden structure is combined with the luxuriant tropical plants in the interior, and a natural and comfortable feeling permeates the whole body. When the Windows are open, the plants sway in the wind that blows in, blurring the line between inside and outside.

The bedroom serves as the space that lets a person relax most, so simple tonal can make the person restores calm faster, and light color is tonal and recreational adornment became its design characteristic. Linen bedding in the bedroom, vintage nightstand, lamp made of plaster and paper, add to the beautiful feeling of the space.
