Luxury Frontiers, an international design and development company based in San Francisco and Johannesburg, has conceived and designed an exclusive Luxury lodging hotel for Camp Sarika in the southern state of Utah. It's North America's first all-weather, year-round campsite, with 10 luxury tents at the foot of a giant Utah mesa.
Luxury Frontiers' design pays homage to a situation that creates intimacy in an expansive landscape while engaging sensory experiences. Sarika camp, which means "open space" and "sky" in Sanskrit, is surrounded by 600 acres of vast wilderness. The views of the mesa also allow guests to visit five national parks and numerous national monuments.
Luxury Frontiers' concept is driven by contextual design, which easily integrates the building into the landscape. The tent pavilion faces toward a large sandstone structure and welcomes guests with the soft intimacy of a natural canvas tent. The design thrives on both aesthetic and performance levels. In keeping with the natural environment, Luxury Frontiers' tents are designed to withstand potentially harsh elements of the site.
The 10 units are split evenly between one and two bedrooms, with each unit coming with living and dining areas, wet and dry bars, as well as private bathrooms with tubs, indoor and outdoor showers. One-bedroom tents measure about 1,900 square feet, while two-bedroom tents offer more than 2,800 square feet.
In keeping with Amangiri's design philosophy, all the tents are comfortable and spacious, with clean lines and natural colors. In addition, inspired by the undulating surface of the desert, the details of the camp reflect the local area through textures and natural materials.
