Cabrils House, located on a hillside north of Barcelona, Spain, reflects the honesty of design and the simplicity of aesthetics. Norm Architects removes unnecessary elements from the space and expresses the attributes of the space through lightness, clarity and directness. At the same time, the blurred boundary between inside and outside creates a free flow between nature and comfortable space.
About half an hour north of Barcelona, surrounded by the hills of Cirers and Montcabrer, the town of Cabrils sits amidst lush pine and oak forests. Here an expat family is looking for a private home nestled in the hilly terrain.
The architecture is open and bright, with stunning coastal views. Scandinavia meets southern Europe, because the chosen materials, such as concrete for the floors and light oak wood in the kitchen and the fixtures, not only suit the Spanish climate, but also enclose and radiate Scandinavian minimalism. Small corners and rooms with a cozy and warm atmosphere contrast the otherwise open architecture and create a dynamic space.
