Note is excited to introduce Helio’s first co-working space outside of Stockholm. The project is located in K6, an office building in central Malmo–one of Sweden’s fastest growing cities, known for its young population, international vibe and innovative spirit. It is a city that allows different cultures to co-exist and co-operate in a vibrant urban environment. In developing the design, it was important for the design team to represent Helio’s core values while simultaneously creating a space that feels like a natural asset to the city of Malmo.
K6 was originally built in 1991 and has many characteristic features of the postmodernist era such as large, ornamental bay windows and slim vertical lines of brick. The building’s star attraction is the enormous central atrium where daylight floods in from the glazed ceiling. Inspired by a PoMo generation that embraced experimentation and unconventional combinations, the studio wanted to make an atypical office space. The goal was to design a human-centred co-working venue that serves as a platform for collaborations and exchange of ideas. The space is designed to help to build a bridge between all visitors in order to serve an open minded and diverse community.
Note has worked with a rich mix of materials and colours that you don’t usually see in office spaces… Deep colours that range from ochre and reddish brown, to olive green and lighter tones of creamy white. High gloss tiles in contrast to matt lacquered wood. Together, these considered material choices make for a homely and warm environment that feels inclusive and welcoming.
