Modern Age is a health and wellness platform which takes an aggregate approach against anti-ageing, focused on improving how clients feel and not necessarily how they look. Ringo Studio took an equally holistic approach to reflect the brand’s ethos of wellbeing at its New York City flagship.

Located in New York City’s Flatiron District is the flagship location of Modern Age, a holistic platform for ageing wellness. Madelynn Ringo completed the design for the multidisciplinary healthcare-cum-wellness space for the brand, which is premised around the notion of subjective age – the idea that age is measured by how people feel not by how many years people’ve been alive. The flagship offers anti-ageing treatments and products curated by medical professionals for skin, hair, hormones, and bone health. The designer took an equally comprehensive design approach to reflect the wellness brand’s ethos. 

The designer drew inspiration from the human form throughout the space. Soft rounded shapes in the form of doors and archways along with a subtle yet joyful colour palette of light pink and blue, chartreuse, and apricot invoke an organic feeling. Marbled terracotta tiles and splotchy painted neutral-toned walls resemble physical imperfections of the skin. Tiled Roman-style columns refer to how beauty endures despite age. Large windows and doors demonstrate the transparency of the process while ample privacy is found in treatment areas.

As a brand premised around viewing health and wellness as intertwined, aimed at improving how clients feel and not necessarily how they look, Modern Age represents this shift to reflect a growing affinity towards longevity. The feeling of serenity invoked by the space demonstrates how the clinic itself has become a part of the wellness process.
