A modern and stylish Avenue Road Showroom in Vancouver, Canada, designed by a local interior design studio. The 12,000-square-foot (1,115-square-meter) showroom is on two floors of a century-old building in the trendy Gastown district of New York.
The new base is designed to help Grand Road continue its mission of bringing unknown European talent to the North American market. Avenue Road worked with Toronto-based architect Abraham Chan to transform the industrial space into a series of apartment-style rooms.
In tribute to Vancouver’s elements, as well as its older architecture, Douglas fir columns from the original building were preserved and extended with blackened cold-rolled steel arches. These arches serve to frame the customer’s view, turning one’’s experience of the store in a series of ‘vignettes’ – from the expansive main gallery, to the carpeted bedroom corner, to intricate tea room and boutique flower shop.
