Allison Samuels
The combination of exquisite craftsmanship and simple design. Focus on letting the wood speak for itself, creating imperfect forms to highlight the natural beauty of the wood.
Allison Samuels, founder of Two Tree Studios woodworking and furniture atelier in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, majored in fiber arts before finding her calling in wood. After art school, she traveled up and down the East Coast and in her wanders decided that cabinetry and wood carving would be her future. She returned to New York, where she grew up“surrounded by lush forests and rock-filled rivers,”which later inspired her to create simple, nature-based design, with a strong interest in preserving natural resources.
Allison Samuels’s idea has always been to fuse strong craftsmanship with minimalist design. While studying cabinetry she built up the Two Tree brand, making a selection of wooden boards and utensils in her spare time. She was focused on letting the wood speak for itself and create imperfect forms that look natural on the eye and that the user can adapt to with ease.
Two Tree Studios produces hand-sculptured furniture, lighting and containers. Focus on hyper-local, consciously sourced materials and experimental surface treatments. In addition to material procurement and waste management, they strive to create works and establish systems rooted in eco-sociological equity within the industry. The studio did its best to include these elements to highlight the natural beauty of the wood.
Through minimalist design and powerful craftsmanship, Allison Samuels aims to create products that help customers connect with their homes and find more meaning. Allison Samuels' original designs for utensils, tableware, wood panels and custom furniture were developed with longevity and durability in mind. Each piece is hand-carved, polished and polished to ensure lifetime use.
