London architect Carmody Groarke has recreated a vast brick space for a flexible new special exhibition gallery at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, England. The flexible gallery has just been completed as part of the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry. Spanning an impressive 725 square metres, the project forms the institution's new special exhibition gallery.
The project is part of a long-term renewal of the Manchester Museum, which aims to provide a future experience for a much-loved cultural institution and to combine great design with sustainability. This is only the first stage of an ambitious plan, with more to come in the years to come. The new gallery is currently closed due to restrictions imposed by the pandemic, but is ready to open its doors as soon as these restrictions are lifted.
