Caroline Walls
On the basis of design,My art practice is based on Strong sense of color, line and form.
Caroline Walls (b. 1984) is an Australian artist working across a number of media, including painting, drawing, soft sculpture, and print-making.Walls creates work with a skilled and fluid approach to aesthetics, focusing on the female form as her central subject. She graduated with a First-class Honours degree in Visual Communication and Design from Swinburne University (2006) and recently attended the Victorian College of the Arts where she completed a post-graduate certificate in Visual Arts.
Focusing primarily on the female form, Caroline’s work abstracts the body into sinuous slopes and organic curves. Her artistic practice is grounded in her signature use of neutrals and inky blue-black tones along with her deep understanding of composition and form. The figures in Caroline’s reductive print artworks are stripped back to their most essential line and shape to heighten the expressive power of each artwork.
Caroline Walls draws inspiration from the movement and fluidity of the female form, moments of intimacy, contemporary perceptions of women’s sexuality in the current cultural sphere, as well as notions of gender and fertility. She is dedicated to exploring the female body and spirit, Imparting a crisp fluidity and a primal corporeality, her female forms loom both substantial and ethereal, emanating a nuanced reading of femininity that digs beneath the societal stereotypes of heightened sexuality.
