Situated on a picturesque street of Notting Hill, akub is a Palestinian restaurant celebrating the rich diversity of ingredients and culinary traditions from the region, working with locally sourced British ingredients.
Annie Harrison of Fare INC was responsible for overseeing the challenging transformation of an old townhouse into a home for Palestinian hospitality, designing layered custom verdigris light fittings and bespoke seating in tapestry fabrics to enhance each diner's experience. Her interiors for the space are a warm embodiment of the Palestinian landscape, using textured wall coverings, olive green upholstery and mottled wood veneers.
The interiors are elevated with calacatta oro marble and mother of pearl tiles, an export from the nation. The subterranean bar is wrapped in a mural Annie commissioned Tess Newall Studio to hand paint on site, creating a dream like, whimsical cocktail area.
