Untitled, a melbourne-based restaurant designed by local design Studio Flack Studio, is trying to counter the trend. This is an interior space with simplicity, confidence, texture and energy, all of which are combined with food and restaurant service.
For the restaurant, the architects reference the curvaceous and organic forms of Alvar Aalto and Gae Aluenti, while Flack uses noble materials to communicate with those considered less important in fluid Spaces.
Flack Studio explores competing design concepts through substance and form, drawing on all the strengths of European architects past and present to design the restaurant.
The studio explores the opposing forms that exist between raw and polished, yet these forms are not often seen together. The interaction of high and low materials, coupled with polished blue mirrors, hand-rubbed aged brass. This series of interconnected forms and curves references both Finnish architect Alvar Alto and Italian great Gae Aluenti.
