In 1986 Geoffrey Bawa was responsible for the renovation of two small houses in Ward Place for Druvi and Sharmini de Saram. In April 2019, Lunuganga Trust took on the management of the house designed by Bawa, working with De Sarams to fully restore this poetic house. As part of the restoration of De Saram House, the Trust is also responsible for the preservation and display of key works of art from the Bawa Art Collection and the De Saram Family Art Collection.
As part of the De Saram House experience, these works form a melting pot display of the works of the '43' group, the catalytic force behind the development of Sri Lankan art in the 20th century.Photography is allowed without the use of flash or tripods in all areas of the property except for the bedrooms and music room; publication or commercial use of photographs is only permissible if expressed approval has been obtained from the Geoffrey Bawa Trust.
