Located in the centre of London, a modern apartment designed by John Pawson, the famous British minimalist master. The layout of the apartment was previously divided into a series of separate elements, including four bedrooms.
The building's reimagining of space began with the idea of stripping everything back to a state of nothingness and using three axes from the ground floor to shape the new geometry of what is now a one-bedroom.
A separate timber volume inserted into the center of the empty plan accommodates a work area and also serves as a medium for quietly arranging other elements of the project.
The five objects the client brought into the project -- three paintings, a grandfather clock and a Buddha statue -- serve as signposts for the narrative of the space, next to a framed elevated landscape with views of the city skyline.
