Kerryn Levy
I like to put my fingers in the clay and it will stay in my work and become part of the work.
Kerryn Levy is a ceramic artist based in Adelaide, SA. Having studied a bachelor of Visual Arts at University of South Australia (2014) and completed the Associate Training Program at JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design (2018), Kerryn continues to practice out of her studio at the JamFactory.
By slowly fabricating, grinding and folding the clay by hand, she gives the pieces functional shapes. Often her work ends up looking like a strange mixture of human, animal and plant forms. The glazes and textures developed were inspired by the Australian landscape, such as charcoal/charred trees, a variety of eucalyptus trees from ghost gum to slender bark, and the natural ochre and deep red of central Australia.
