DooSooGoBang Restaurant

DooSooGoBang Restaurant is located in South Korea, a unique Buddhist Restaurant with local characteristics, designed by local interior design firm Limtaehee Studio. The restaurant draws on buddhist practices, and the ascetic lifestyle and eating habits of Korean Buddhist monks influenced the interior design by Limtaehee Design Studio for DooSooGoBang restaurant in Suwon, South Korea.

Originating in South Korea's early Buddhist temples 1,700 years ago, the dish eschews Onions, garlic, chives, leeks and scallions -- five ingredients that monks and nuns typically shun because they are said to disrupt the spiritual practice of harmony, relying instead on ingredients like mushroom powder and tofu dregs for flavor. These practices became a key reference point for the Limtaehee design studio, which wanted the restaurant's interior to evoke the same "humility" as a Korean Buddhist temple and cuisine developed there.

The dining room is divided into three areas -- the first is a spacious hall-style room that will serve as the main dining room, with black tiled floors and walls painted with light grey stuccoed. The cupboards around the room displayed ceramic ornaments. Behind the restaurant is a platform where diners can sit on MATS in the traditional Korean way. Additional benches and wooden tables are also scattered throughout the room. Wooden shutters open to the second area of the restaurant, which means there is a more intimate atmosphere.Contrary to the public image of the hall, the area gives the impression of meditation in a mountain temple away from the city.
