Ripponlea House

Integrity is at the heart of Ripponlea House, which is designed as a place that embodies a sense of connection, presence and peace. While the house was originally designed as a two-storey building, the emphasis was on quality rather than quantity through the single-storey design. Ultimately, Lukefry provides a timeless home for a young family, guaranteeing high functionality for decades to come.

This semi detached brick house is located in a beautiful alleyway in Ripponlea and occupies 240 m2 in a tree-lined setting. Hidden from the streetscape, the new extension opens onto a sun-bathed courtyard that highlights its connection to the outdoors. The design language and visual consistency of the project emphasize innovation and creativity. Wabi-sabi, an interpretation of an ancient Japanese philosophy, revolves around simplicity and simplicity throughout the family.

The original features were restored to preserve their historical connection while injecting contemporary relevance into the space. Lukefry's design takes a clean, linear approach to ensure that the new elements live in harmony with the old and are expressed in their own way without competing with each other. Ripponlea House uses durable materials, locally sourced European oak, natural stone, concrete and packaged brick to achieve a sustainable, cost-effective design that creates an exquisite aesthetic that will stand the test of time.
