Danish firm Norm Architects has completed the Fjord Boat House, a holiday cottage on the Danish border with Germany. The exterior of the cabin is built on raw concrete, with green growing vines and black timber cladding, effortlessly reflecting the natural surroundings.
A hand-crafted ceramic tile staircase leads from the main house to the terrace area, which continues into the interior and becomes a beautiful, rustic and distinct spatial feature unique to the seaside house.
Organic shapes, tactile materials and handmade ceramics add softness to the space, echoing the Solid wood panels of the Skandi-Japanese aesthetic with a sense of beauty and purpose. There are spectacular views directly over the sea and the sense of peace is overwhelming.
Table pendants and lamps are part of Karimoku and Kojima Shouten's recent collection for The Archipelago House. Small design details inspired by Japanese fishing ports add to the Marine aesthetic of the interior.
