The Audo
In the identification of Spaces and concepts, we have been drawing on the traditional norms of good design in order to connect the exquisite, modern interior design with the history of the building. - Peter Eland
MENU and Norm Architects have once again worked together to bring MENU's new headquarters to life, successfully introducing a creative hybrid design to Copenhagen's Nordhavnen neighborhood, a unique concept that reflects the rapidly changing intersection of home, work and hospitality within a single community.
The name Audo comes from Latin Ab Uno Disce Omnes, meaning: kill two birds with one stone, fully embodies the cooperative spirit of MENU. It achieves a seamless transition from one space to another, exhilarating and enjoyable by cleverly combining co-working and event facilities, cafes, restaurants and concept shops, and exclusive hotel residences. Nathan Williams from leading lifestyle publication Kinfolk leads Audo's creative direction, bringing a global perspective to the space.
Located in Copenhagen's Nordhavn district, Audo dates back to 1918 and was originally built to house the headquarters of The Russian Trading Company Limited. The New Baroque house features an inspiring combination of original features and thoughtful new accompaniments from an eclectic mix of upscale brands -- not only is the menu a comprehensive range of furniture, lighting and accessories, it's the studio's truest test, as well as a selection of products from upscale brands across the globe.
At Audo, MENU's combination of furniture, lighting and accessories will be presented and experienced in new and authentic ways, redefining how designers use design, space, and ultimately how they relate to each other. Led by former CEO and founder Bjarne Hansen and conceived in collaboration with Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen of Norm Architects, Audo is a testament to the future of design. Influenced by the spirit of cooperation, the new space creates a new sense of belonging.
