Stepping into Brach Madrid is like stepping into a private home full of poetry and emotion. The elaborate layout of the entrance suggests that this is not only a hotel, but also a recreation of history. Philippe Starck gives emotional value to each object with story-filled decoration, allowing guests to feel warmth and surprise from the first step.
Walking into the lobby, the strong Spanish style comes to you. The entire floor is paved with terra-cotta bricks, which convey the depth of the earth and complement the sunlight. Rattan furniture and handmade pottery adorn the space, displaying the temperature of traditional craftsmanship and filling the whole space with a modern and nostalgic contrast aesthetic.
Brach Madrid's restaurant is a food space, but also a place where cultures collide. The designer recreates the intellectual gathering scene of 1920s Madrid: dark mahogany wallboards, hand-woven leather ceilings and paintings hanging casually, as if impoverished artists had traded their work for a warm dinner. Sloping mirrors add to the drama of the space, offering a glimpse into the dynamic atmosphere of the entire restaurant.
The bar space is a clever blend of tradition and modernity, with large bottles of liquor wrapped in rattan on the counter evoking a Spanish country bistro. The mirror reflection creates a charming atmosphere of light and shadow, which is both nostalgic and modern. This is not only a place to taste wine, but also a window to feel the pulse of Madrid's nightlife.
Each room is like a traveler's memoir, the hand-painted graffiti on the wall, the notes on the leather bed, the small objects on the shelf, all fragments of a love story. Through these details, Philippe Starck makes the room a private dream that guests can freely interpret.
The suite design continues the strong Spanish elements, golden wood, chunky leather, pottery and rattan work together to create a warm and calm atmosphere. The pink and orange fringe embellished among them symbolizes the passion and rhythm of Spanish dance, making the space full of drama and vitality.
In contrast to the calm mass of the rest of the hotel, La Capsule creates a floating atmosphere in pure white tones. Philippe Starck envisioned this as a "cloud" like space, allowing guests to experience physical and mental relaxation in the intermingling of light and shadow. Swimming pools, saunas, floating baths and high-tech beauty treatments intertwine to create an exploration of body and mind regeneration.
The hotel's terrace is not only the best place to overlook the city, but also the designer's tribute to Madrid's modernity. The furniture, lighting and plants create a three-dimensional picture of the city, allowing guests to enjoy food and wine while also immersing themselves in the warmth and vitality of the city.
Philippe Starck's Brach Madrid design, with "modern nostalgia" at its core, blends Madrid's culture, history and contemporary aesthetics. He not only revived a building, but also created a space full of story and emotion. This is not simply a luxury hotel, but an immersive experience of time, memory and art that is worth revisiting.
