The Quinn House building near 63 Melbourne Street will be redeveloped and a previously derelict space between the west end of Fish Lane and Melbourne Street in Brisbane will be transformed into a vibrant "town square". The project was designed by Richard &Spence and the landscape was designed by RPS Group.
The proposed development would include a new city park, as well as retail, hotel and gallery space. The communal dining area will also be built under the railway overpass in the driveway, with a separate detachable cafe and bar in the middle of the space.
The development transforms an underutilized space that currently detracts from the vitality of Fish Lane and opens currently protected private land to the public for their enjoyment and recreation.
Its design embraces the highest principles of urban subtropical design, including landscaped pods and climbing planters, communal artwork, communal bench seating, creative lighting and outdoor dining.
