Scott Mitchell has completed a concrete mansion in Holmby Hills, California. The house attaches great importance to its axis and landscape, and it has some academy of fine arts forms, with landscaped terraces and a healthy respect for symmetry, but a greater respect for visual and tactile comfort. It is a building that feels and experiences rather than being shaped by architectural dogma. 

Scott Mitchell's interpretation of modernism is rich and varied textures, interpenetrating Spaces, precise details of fabrication, and understanding of the juxtaposition of materials. It feels hard and soft and grand -- a two-story living room at the center, and it's warm. The house is luxurious, but not extravagant. The Holmby Hills house is both disciplined and festive: restraint and luxury seem to be in perfect harmony in this design.

Scott Mitchell's house is characterized by a unique use of light and materials, with tactile, soft textures and concrete and natural materials placed on center stage, with a strong, unified aesthetic that became the signature of the studio. Scott Mitchell's work effortlessly balances ventilation, geometry, contemporary architecture with comfortable, subtle luxury.
