Nestled within the vibrant Bangkok neighbourhood of the same name, Aesop Thonglor is the brand’s inaugural signature store in Thailand, marking a shift from third-party distribution to a tangible presence. The entrance is an inviting extension from the streetscape, leading visitors into a dual-sectioned sanctuary comprising the main shopfloor and the Fa-Lhai Room, a space designed to engage the senses.
Conceived in collaboration with Sher Maker Studio, the space is an homage to the architectural vernacular of Thailand's provinces and the surrounding neighbourhood. The interior is rich with reclaimed teak, sourced from the personal collection of the building’s owner and nearby Bang Ban district.
The store is anchored by a centrepiece reminiscent of a Kraba-Din, a traditional earthen fire pit found in rural areas. Integral to village life, it is a place for communal gatherings and heartfelt conversations—a sentiment that is echoed in the store's layout, which encourages interaction around the central sinks crafted from the same granite used in many local kitchens.
The traditional craftsmanship extends to the very structure of the store, with time-tested joinery techniques binding the space together, from the sturdy posts to the inviting benches. Amber bottles line the walls, presenting Aesop's complete range of formulations for the skin, hair, body and home, while tucked to the side an en-suite basin facilitates intimate, in-depth consultations and personalised encounters with the products.
Tucked into a corner, a Fragrance Armoire awaits, ensconced amid inviting seating that encourages quiet contemplation. This intimate enclave offers an olfactory journey through the brand’s unorthodox Eaux de Parfum. Here, customers can explore their aromatic inclinations and imbue a garment with their chosen aroma.
