A client buys a beautiful Victorian house that was to be demolished by a local developer. But the client was not only determined to save the house, but determined to bring it back to life, painstakingly restoring and updating it in its entirety. They then commissioned Simone Haag to decorate it, with the intention of selling it as a ready-to-use residence.
However, this was never a normal project to sell, and the client made an unusual request for the house. They sought an eclectic mix of furniture, artwork and objects to emphasize the house's extraordinary pedigree, and relied heavily on Simone Haag's sourcing expertise and narrative design approach.
The pieces include a unique Italian retro entry console with an intense green color that unexpectedly sets the tone for the combination of furniture, art and objects throughout the house. The focal point of the interior is the 'library', which is filled with antiques, including a redecorated three-legged chair; Steel hangers are perfect places to store books and items. The living space also houses a thoughtful collection of premium furniture.
Clients comment on Simone Haag that he is not afraid to challenge the norm, to push the envelope and to take risks. She had 100% confidence in Simone Haag's expertise, so she consciously withdrew from most decision-making processes during the design process. Everything at Hampton House is part of the story, showing the beautiful House in better times.
