Casa Nossa
"Extraordinary surfaces, fixtures, details, textures and sheens bring depth and sophistication to the clean lines and bright open spaces."--Studio Astolfi
Casa Nossa is located in the unique landscape of Monsaraz, Portugal, overlooking the Guadiana River and the Spanish border, making it a rare and hidden treasure. The estate features 65 hectares (160 acres) of natural landscape surrounded by century-old oak trees, native plants, fruit trees, aromatic herbs and a vegetable garden with seasonal vegetables.
Award-winning Portuguese chef Jose Avillez and his wife Sofia Ulrich, a veteran reader and amateur photographer, fell in love at first sight with this unique and magical place. Together, they designed the house, giving it unique details and reflecting their hospitality. The space was designed by the renowned Studio Astolfi, with the addition of traditional Portuguese artefacts carefully selected by Felipa Almeida, making it an understatement luxury, refined and elegant residence dominated by natural materials and earth colors such as orange and brown.
Free Flow of Hierarchy
This exquisite Casa Nossa resort is a 10-bedroom white farmhouse hidden behind a large wooden door. When rented out to guests, it offers daily accommodation, including the chef's signature dishes, and even its own marina for quick boat rides around the lake.
Casa Nossa has spacious and comfortable indoor and outdoor living and dining areas, the highlights of which are the grand porch, wine cellar, bar and library, and entertainment film room. Casa Nossa blurs boundaries and encourages social interaction through an open design. Private Spaces for solitude, but also to meet social needs.
Like most traditional Alentejo homes, Casa Nossa has multiple fireplaces - three indoor fireplaces and several outdoor fireplaces for extra warmth during the colder months. With a fireplace, indoor terrace and bar, the living room is the perfect place to enjoy cocktails, listen to chamber music or browse through the library's many books on Alentejo, cuisine, hunting, fishing and traditional crafts. On the display of books, the host carefully selected the classic literature of Portugal and the world.
The main living room is approximately 180 square meters and includes three seating areas, two fireplaces, game tables, a grand piano, a TV, a sound system and a record player. The dining room is part of the main living area and has a dining table for 20 and a dining table for 12. It constructs a different sense of ritual for food and gathering, further emphasizes the functionality and interest of the space, and makes the level rich and the field flow freely.
Emotional Needs
The huge wine cellar stores about 800 bottles of wine, including more than 120 of Portugal's best wines, and there is a tasting table next to it that can accommodate 10 guests. Other luxury facilities on the premises include a cinema and showroom with a 2mX3m giant screen and comfortable seating for an enjoyable movie night. It meets the diverse needs of contemporary and future life, demonstrates the hospitality of the owners, and reflects their pursuit of craftsmanship and unique taste for art.
The hotel has ten rooms, each carefully furnished with a private bathroom, balcony, terrace or porch, creating a unique and spacious living environment for guests. The interior creates a peaceful atmosphere with soft materials and warm colors that meet functional, aesthetic and emotional needs.
On all sides of the building, there is a spacious porch with a stunning 180º view of the lake, adding to the distinctive landscape personality and artistic atmosphere of the hotel. Guests can wander, relax and enjoy the sun.
Carrier of Functions
On one side of the pool is a small sauna, a Turkish bath and a wellness pavilion. Here, not only do you have a magnificent view overlooking the lake, but it is also the ideal place for yoga or physiotherapy massage. There is also a small fitness room nearby, which can be used freely or under the guidance of a personal trainer. The pool with blurred boundaries is connected to the lake view, making the outdoors a functional vehicle for tranquility and interaction.
Jose Avillez and Sofia Ulrich have created this scenic resort with simple aesthetics and unique details, presenting a lifestyle of understated luxury and hospitality, making it an emotional contemporary space. Casa Nossa creates both sensory and emotional experiences, creating a comprehensive luxury holiday experience for foodies and country lovers alike.
