The Espresso Lab, a minimalist aesthetic coffee shop in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was designed by Dubai-based interior studio Studio M. The Espresso Lab is located in The Qasr Al Hosn Cultural Park, a masterplan designed to preserve The oldest building in The city, The Qasr Al Hosn Fortress. Similar to the first branch, the concept of the coffee shop focuses on the coffee bar located in the center of the space to highlight the process of making the coffee.
The furniture is reminiscent of a traditional Oriental cafe, adding a nostalgic thread to the experience. The natural beech finishes of the furniture compliment the warm tones of the space, while details of black patina steel frame the furniture. The location embodies the minimalist coffee center concept of specialty coffee shops, with richly textured Spaces and details that allow it to grasp its spirit. By echoing the geometric shapes of the historical context, the Qasr Al Hosn Park celebrates the natural mud-crevelled coastal desert landscape architecture, while the vibrant terracotta toned stucco walls and ceilings help the space stand out and draw visitors in.
