As a generation of master architects, Tadao Ando left a unique and great vitality for the world. His works and the spirit behind them are eternal and irrepressible.. In 1995, Mr. Ando won the Pritzker Prize, architecture's highesthonor, by donating $100,000 to orphans after the 1995 Kobe earthquake.
Japanese architect Tadao Ando has designed a new cultural memorial center in the historic Liangzhu village of Hangzhou, China. The cultural centre is surrounded by a serene landscape of cherry blossoms, as well as a theatre, library and gallery, with three different "boxes" covered by a large roof.
Triangular cuts in the roof allow natural light to pour onto the concrete surface and onto the stairwell. The interior also features a light-filled space with floor-to-ceiling Windows that offer soothing views of nature.
