As a generation of master architects, Tadao Ando left a unique and great vitality for the world. His works and the spirit behind them are eternal and irrepressible.. Poly Grand Theater Shanghai sits between two man-made waterways in the Jiading district of Shanghai, China, alongside a residential and office complex, both designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
The theatre embodies the architect's minimalist style, with a concrete structure that allows it to be surrounded by glass and aluminium facades. Five large openings were carved through the building to create a series of public Spaces that are exposed to the outdoors but sheltered from the rain. The lining of the tunnel is aluminum, but painted like wood to contrast with concrete.
