Located in the heart of the trendy Notting Hill neighborhood in London, this petite home – where a talented Austrian interior designer-Theresa Obermoser lives – reflects a vibrant mix of artistry and craftsmanship with a contemporary spin.Nestled between a private garden and a public park, the apartment effortlessly blends Victorian features with modern design.

Inspired by the designer’s first project in Ibiza, the unique British style of Notting Hill, and April Rose’s stunning dried flower installations, every detail tells a meaningful story.

A Grade II listed building from 1890, with beautiful Victorian architectural features. Ornate ceiling moldings, high ceilings and expansive windows create a timeless backdrop for a fresh, contemporary aesthetic.

“The moment we saw the space, we knew it was something special,” remembers Theresa Obermoser, founder of her eponymous design studio. “It’s rare to find a ground-floor and first-floor apartment with such a unique position — nestled between a private garden and a public park. Transforming it was a challenge, as the potential relied on removing all the walls, a risky move for a Grade II listed building. Thankfully, we secured listed building consent, and it allowed us to bring our vision to life.”

“Set across 80 square meters / 861 square feet, with two bedrooms, the layout is thoughtfully designed to balance privacy and openness. The bedrooms and bathroom are nestled downstairs, while the first floor is dedicated to an expansive open-plan space for entertaining. It’s here that the magic truly happens, with soaring 3.4-meter-high / 11-foot-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with light.

"I love a neutral base, so we chose the KABRIK Pale Beach color by DETALE CPH for its textured plaster look,” says Theresa. “It's practical, too. The final layer seals the color, making it easy to wipe — ideal for the kitchen fronts and hallway balustrade. We added pops of color with the sofa and I plan to seasonally update the dried flower installation above the coffee table with flowers from April Rose."

"It’s a vibrant sanctuary in the city, and I am thrilled with the result," says the interior designer, who captured the essence of the space that blends energy with tranquility, offering a refreshing retreat amidst the urban buzz.
