In Ostend, Tjip transformed an existing manor-style family home into a contemporary residence while respecting existing elements. The designer also looked for an answer to the client’s request to create a sense of security in the middle of the open spaces. A classic enfilade was given sliding doors that not only allow a smooth transition between the dynamics of the family life and a cocoon for two, but also allow daylight to play freely or be muted according to the needs and time of day.
The intimacy of the interior is further defined by the choice of calm materials and light tones. The absolute eye-catcher in the interior is a certified Winston Churchill fireplace symbolizing the warm stateliness this interior exudes.
The property’s location also played a part in the design. Located at the edge of a park and blessed with a landscape garden, we opted for a design that presents itself as a canvas to its surroundings. Hence, residents get the feeling of living ín the landscape. Particular attention also went to the selection of art in the house.
