Vincenzo de Cotiis

Elegant Parisian Apartment

Fashion designer Pierre Hardy and his husband Christopher Turnier invited Vincenzo de Cotiis to renovate their mural-decorated apartment on the Seine. The designer blends old with new in this elegant Parisian apartment, blending his own stylish furniture designs with antiques and minimalist art.

Nearly every inch of the ceiling of the roughly 2,000-square-foot apartment is covered with lifelike mythological murals. Pierre Hardy always wanted to decorate his home in this historic area, so that's why he invited Vincenzo de Cotiis to come here and use de Cotiis's hand to bring interior design into the 21st century.

"The space had a very strong character -- so French, so classic, and we wanted to respect that history," recalled De Cotiis, who was surprised to see Paris's ornate, frescoed ceiling. "I tried to combine the contemporary style of Pierre Hardy and Christopher Turnier with the classical atmosphere. These paintings are the protagonists of the house. So the interior needs to be simple."
