Yoyo Balague
For myself, a perfect product is never just an object, but rather a natural fusion between the essences of natural resources and mankind.
Yoyo Balague is a Spanish artist based in Baix Emporda who works with fire, air, sea and the universe. Her work is unique, full of meaning, and the spirit plays a leading role in it. Yoyo Balague was fascinated by the Mediterranean and embraced nature as a way of life. The Baix Emporda, formed by sandy coves and cliffs, are two of Yoyo Balague's motivations for creating art in his studio.
In this creative and harmonious environment, Yoyo Balague gives soul and personality to her work. Through the urdido technique, she left her clay works unglazed to reveal the earthy beauty of the material. All she did was out of love for all things spiritual. For Yoyo Balague, a perfect product is never just an object, but a natural fusion of natural resources and human essence.
In research and practice, Yoyo Balague takes a multidisciplinary approach, focusing on ceramics. Developed a personal view of thousands of years of pit-burning techniques and found the perfect channel to combine his spirit, craft, and thought with the earth and the elements. At the same time, Yoyo Balague tries to match the micro world with the macro world, integrating natural elements such as wood, fire, water and air in the daily environment into the process of creating and completing unique art works.
