When a client desires the timeless charm of a Kerala bungalow within the urban landscape of Pune, the result is nothing short of spectacular. Enter the House of Gond, a project by Renesa Architecture Design Studio that blends traditional Indian aesthetics with a contemporary approach to create an understated luxurious living space, subtly capturing the openness of Kerala bungalows in a modern apartment setting.
This beautifully designed residence is a joint reflection of the client's vision, Monica Gaur, a designer with a penchant for Kerala's wealth of ingenious traditions, and Studio Renesa's design prowess. Here in this successfully crafted home, the client finds a profound sense of belonging – a space whispering stories of the past while welcoming the future.
One of the most captivating aspects of the House of Gond is its celebration of Indian artistry. The living room, adorned with louvered shutters and antique chandeliers, features Karaikudi tile patterns that tie the space together. Each piece of furniture and artwork engages in a dialogue, weaving a narrative that is both culturally rich and visually captivating.
The studio’s goal was to integrate traditional art into a modern context, echoing a quintessential Indian home aiming to create a space that has a culturally rich flair and is also visually appealing, with each element curated to enhance the home's intimate character. The House of Gond exemplifies this fusion, seamlessly blending the old and new. It captures the beauty of Kerala's architectural heritage within the vibrant city of Pune, offering a unique living space that resonates with contemporary style.
