Carl Friedrik London Flagship

Interiors Retails London 2024-10-24

Tabitha Isobel's interiors studio has crafted a gallery-like experience for luxury luggage brand Carl Friedrik's first physical store, located in a Grade-II listed building on Regent Street, near Piccadilly Circus in central London. The store’s design features an inviting palette of dark wood, metal accents, and draped fabrics, blending the brand’s minimalist, heritage-inspired products with modern elegance. Studio founder Tabitha Organ was tasked with creating a space that feels both practical and artful, allowing the products to be the focal point while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Due to the building's listed status, only minor alterations were allowed, preserving original elements such as ornate cornicing and Versailles oak flooring. To align with Carl Friedrik’s contemporary aesthetic, Organ replaced cold grey walls with lighter, warmer tones, complemented by calico fabrics to soften the overall look. The space includes custom-designed aluminium and oak plinths to display larger luggage pieces, along with draped curtains that conceal existing cabinetry and create a theatrical backdrop for smaller items. Throughout the store, reflective accents in chrome and brushed aluminium catch the eye, adding a modern touch to the historical setting.

A cosy lounge area near the fireplace offers a retreat with mid-century furniture and marble accents, enhancing the relaxed atmosphere. There are no tills in the store, as transactions are handled via handheld devices, reinforcing the customer-centric, bespoke experience. Artwork by Daniëlle Siobhán and Melanie Anne Haynes adds a gallery-like ambiance to the space. Carl Friedrik plans to replicate this minimalistic and rich material approach in future store openings, with this project marking a significant milestone for Tabitha Organ’s growing studio.
