Director and co-founder Jodie Fried, who founded Armadillo in 2009, is committed to the concept of "quiet living" and slow design, advocating a deeper engagement with the Spaces people inhabit. To echo this point of view, Sydney architecture firm Tribe Studio also responded positively. A sense of responsibility underpins the design to create an built environment capable of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Jodie describes the lower level of the house as "a confident space designed to be filled with people" because she enjoys taking care of his children and entertaining friends; Upstairs "feels more like a sanctuary, with long spinal corridors, exposed ceiling beams inspired by Australian barns, and iconic pitched roofs.
