In a small area on the ground floor of a historic building and a larger Wine cellar in Prague, Czech Republic, there is a Wine bar Wine List. Its internal function has been changed four times before, and these gradual changes form an interesting mix of historical and modern architectural elements within the building, connected with ease and logic in some places, and completely denied in others.
Local design studio COLLARCH set out to create this historically rich and multi-layered interior with existing floors. The design team retained historic elements, such as the original vaulted brick ceiling; Some later appropriate technical solutions are retained, for example, the ventilation system of the building. At the same time, unsatisfactory elements and poorly made layers were removed by the design studio, and eventually the building was made up of all historical and modern layers.
The ground floor is designed more like a day bar in white and light grey, while the cellar is tweaked to an elegant evening black grey. Where possible, COLLARCH removed insensitive architectural alterations added later to the basement interior, maximizing the disclosure of a vault that mixes historic masonry with the original cellar, with floors uniformly laid in neutral grey concrete mortar.
The ground floor of the bar is connected to the wine cellar by a wide staircase. The cellar is designed as a separate air-conditioned room, with steel bottle shelves developed by COLLARCH Studio to maximise space for optimal wine storage. They are suitable for bottles of different shapes and sizes, while their design gives storage Spaces a prominent and unique look.
