This holiday retreat in Duinbergen, along the Belgian coast, underwent a complete transformation. The spacious four-bedroom apartment with four bathrooms was stripped down to its essence to create a tranquil sanctuary for the client seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
With an open layout designed to accommodate both intimate moments for two and gatherings of the entire family, the space was carefully curated to foster a sense of serenity. Embracing a minimalist ethos, we focused on utilizing a restrained palette of materials.
Belgian natural oak, complemented by bleached oak accents reminiscent of the weathered wood found in beach cabins, imbues the space with a sense of coastal charm. The flooring, treated with a lime technique and adorned with small stones, evokes the texture of the sandy shores just a stone's throw away from the apartment.
To soften the aesthetic and enhance the fluidity of the space, subtle curves were introduced, adding a gentle touch to the overall ambiance. The result is a harmonious blend of contemporary design and coastal tranquility, inviting occupants to unwind and reconnect with nature's soothing rhythms.
