Esperanza Romero
In my exploration, these lives were born,Quiet but alert, divine but alive,They came out of my hands, but they don't belong to me,They carry their own destiny,They inspired the scariest beast in my heart,Yearning to reach that fragile balance.
Romero is a sculptor from Spain. At first she took painting and ceramics classes while working part-time, and then she was admitted to the Camberwell School of Art. After graduation, Romero was admitted to the Royal College of Art in London to study for a master's degree. Therefore, she also had the opportunity to participate in various exhibitions, and returned to Spain in 1988 to hold her own solo exhibitions all over the world.
Romero's work is like entering an ancient civilization treasure house, thinking about the contact between the dead and eternal life. Nourished by many cultures, under the guidance of her inner gentle and terrifying essence, she is looking for the long-awaited silence. The human and creatures themselves lead her to the primitive inner abyss and create rich and resonant forms.
Romero's practice has gradually shifted from the initial concreteness to simpler and purer forms, investigating the spatial balance between different forms, and when they come together, they will complement each other and form a harmonious entity. She hopes to stimulate the consciousness of human existence through her works and think about the important essence of life.
