Kasho Gyoen Hotel is located in yoyogi national park, shibuya district, Hokkaido, Japan. It covers an area of about one hectare and was designed by Japanese Design studio Hiramoto Design. The hotel is close to a famous Onsen village called Jozankei Onsen, and the drive offers views of Hokkaido.
Hiramoto Design attempted to Design a beautiful, modern space that is acceptable to city people, but also a natural rural space where one can feel the uniqueness of the site. The designers studied some of the materials and techniques produced around the hotel and elsewhere in Hokkaido, and then incorporated these influences into a modern spatial design. Try to create a luxurious hotel space with these rustic local materials and crafts.
Hiramoto Design calls the concept a secret villa in an undeveloped area and wants guests to enjoy Hokkaido's nature while maintaining a relaxed mood.Enter the lobby center, which has a central fireplace and USES Sapporo soft stone inspired from the site near IRORI, which is a feature of traditional Japanese houses. Like a traditional Japanese house, the Spaces around the fireplace provide a welcoming/talking/drinking/relaxing environment. This space is slightly lower than the ground, so guests can feel calm here.
As guests enter the hall, they can also see the pond. In the dining room, Hiramoto Design designed a long table around an open kitchen, allowing diners to see all of the chef's activities directly. It's like a theater. In addition, indirect lighting is designed in the wooden grille above the bar. By contrast, the other seats were placed near the window, with a view of the pond.
