Laurence Perratzi
Sculpture is a fabulous mix of emotions, discovery and expression. Being able to express yourself with no boundaries or constraints is a rare privilege and I feel like today is still the beginning of my artistic journey as sculpting is an endless evolution process.
Laurence Perratzi is a figurative artist exploring the body's expression. Her work is a reflection on movement strongly influenced by her athletic background where poise and balance are paramount. The figures challenge gravity with subtle poses or sometimes snapshot of body in action.
Laurence Perratzi graduated from a French business school in 1993 and has since been travelling all over the world such. She lived in Hong Kong, San Francisco, Paris and now London. She decided to move away from business in 2001 and dedicate herself to her true passion of sculpting.
She started to work under the tuition of various sculptors such as Hans Marks, Jean-Charles Mainardis, Hywell Pratley and did her first exhibition in 2003 in Paris. Laurence is now exhibited in major London Art Fairs (LAPADA, London Art Fair, Chelsea Art Fair etc..)
In the circle serie, the figure is using the latter as a frame, a support or an accessory. Again, Laurence is continuously researching for movement, lightness, energy and spontaneity in contrast with static poses often represented in sculpture. Her Trees are an explosion of joy and freedom where she gives way to her fantasies, battles with material such as plaster, wood, straw, jesmonite, fiberglass, achieving intimate and powerful sculptures. Most of her work is in bronze, in limited edition of 8, except her Trees which are unique editions.
