Manfred Hellweger
In my works I deal with questions of meaning and value of existence, the world and people. Everything changes and develops, nothing remains the same.
The Austrian sculptor Manfred Hellweger (*1986) lives and works in Pettneu am Arlberg and Nesselgarten near Fließ in Tyrol. In 2004, Manfred graduated as a sculptor at the Technical School for Arts and Design in Elbigenalp (Tyrol). Shortly afterwards, he became self-employed as a freelance artist and in 2013 additional graduated as a stone sculptor at the Technical School for Stone Processing in Laas (South Tyrol).
In his works, the artist deals with questions of meaning and value of existence, the world and people. His distinctive sculptures are mainly made of wood and metal. Hellweger uses simple shapes such as cubes, strips, boards, nails or shaped tubes. Using a variety of techniques, the individual parts are connected to create mostly figurative works that taper towards the bottom.
Through this process, Manfred Hellweger's sculptures seem to dissolve vertically and create a flowing dynamic. The artist refers here to the constant change of our time. Everything changes and develops, nothing remains the same.
What all of the works have in common is the reduction to the essentials, which is a metaphor for more mindfulness and contentment. Manfred Hellweger’s credo is not always more, but rather less of everything. Hellweger has taken part in over 30 international sculpture symposia and numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. His works are already represented by collectors all over the world, e.g. Japan, USA, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Austria.
