The dramatic vaulted glass ceiling of Chadstone Shopping Centre inspires a place of peace and respite. The grand arched frame mimics the broad lines and establishes a strong architectural presence, embedding the cafe in its environment.
The design reinterprets the Au79 Abbotsford narrative, sticking to familiar contact points -- brass details, lush vegetation, scalloped contours. The tones of brick, terrazzo, natural leather and stone suggest relaxing and delicate tones. The loose furniture setting allows the space to be transformed for retail, launches, cocktails and fashion events.
One side of the pill-shaped building is occupied by a cafe. The frame surrounds a pill-like plane, which is divided into two distinct areas by a central server. On one side of the building is a neutral-toned cafe and on the other a bar surrounded by a curved counter made of carved stone flanked by display cases with brass edges.
